Miri Zara · Guitarist · Arranger · Founder of Zara Guitar Editions

I am a graduate of the Conservatory in Pilsen and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where I studied under Štěpán Rak. I also spent part of my studies at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar with Thomas Müller-Pering.

Over time, my artistic path led me to flamenco, which I had the chance to study with artists such as Gerardo Núñez, Antonio Rey, and Carlos Grilo and other. I was part of the orchestra in the Prague production of the musical Carmen at the Karlín Music Theatre, and I have also collaborated with the Pilsen Philharmonic on live film music projects.

An essential part of my musical life is Duo Manera, which I co-founded with guitarist Soňa Vimrová in 2013. We have known each other since our student years at the conservatory and the music academy, and continue to perform together regularly. Our repertoire includes our own arrangements of works ranging from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods to Impressionism and contemporary music – as well as pieces by Czech composers and Latin American music.

Together, we have given over 160 concerts in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The idea behind Zara Guitar Editions had been growing in my mind for years. It became more concrete as I began arranging pieces not only for myself, but for Duo Manera — and realized that the music I was creating deserved to be shared.

Founded in 2023, Zara Guitar Editions is a publishing platform and sheet music store offering original arrangements for two or more guitars, as well as selected transcriptions for solo guitar. The catalog features fresh takes on classical, Latin, and film music — always arranged with musicality, clarity, and the joy of playing in mind.

I try to make the Zara Guitar Editions website not only functional, but also inspiring and transparent. Every score can be fully previewed through an interactive flipbook, often with an added recording or audio playback. This way, guitarists can explore the music before they decide to buy.

It’s my hope to offer something a little different to the guitar community — music that’s not only carefully arranged, but also thoughtfully presented and easy to connect with.
